A Halloween Ghost
November 1st, 2007
Last year, we did not get very many trick or treaters. We didn’t this year, either.
In an effort to give away candy, and because this thought had occurred to me two or three months ago and I really wanted to do it, I decided to create a ghost in the front yard. I managed to get it up before my wife got home, so her and a few teenagers walking by got a good laugh out of it.
To see how I did it, read the rest of this article:

It is a really simple ghost. I put a bed sheet over the light by our driveway in the yard. Conveniently enough, there are some power outlets run to the pole, so I plugged in a few silent fans beneath the lamp to billow the sheets about.
I started out with a rubber band to hold the sheet in place, but wound up moving from the bottom of the lamp to the top, as pictured.
However, the lamp is not using compact fluorescent bulbs and was getting hot so I eventually removed the rubber bands.
I also took it down around 7:00 because it kept getting pretty warm and I didn’t want to ruin the bed sheets or start a fire in my front yard.
It looked really neat. I was proud of myself. Simple, yet effective…
