A new bathroom vent part 2
October 12th, 2006The vent is now wired and working! Not being comfortable with the wiring of the vent ourselves, my uncle and I installed it but did not hook it up. Tonight I had the electrician that does all of electrical work at my place employment come out and hook things up. His son in law came with him, which made the work go relatively quickly and I did not have to do too much.
The guy had a pretty bad case of the shakes. Were I the one handling a live wire, I’m not sure I’d want to have so little control over where my hand actually is.
He wound up knocking a small piece of our wall around the existing switch out when he was taking out the box, which fell into the wall. I guess that I will recover that and throw it out when I get around to replacing the wall at some point in the future. In the meantime, I will have to patch the piece near the new light switch. I wanted to have too much coming behind the switch for the existing box, so it had to come out.
I have not tested the night light yet, having no bulb to place inside it, but the vent, the main light, and the existing vanity lights all work fine. They are still really ugly, but I don’t have the time or money to replace them and they do work.
