Raking Wet Leaves part II
October 26th, 2006This evening when I got home from work, I raked the leaves. I have no idea how well of a job I did, but we had two days of sunshine so I had to get out there. I did promise that I would, after all. It was pitch black by the time I finished. I was wearing a small head lamp, but I’ll see how well I did tomorrow after the sun comes up.
I swept them all up to the corners of the yard where I knew there was a lot of poison ivy this year. Hopefully it will stifle the early spring growth of it next year. I certainly need a larger rake, and I might even consider buying or (more likely) renting a leaf blower next year.
When my mother lived in Connecticut, she had a yard with a similar number of trees. I have decided that my yard is worse, though, because it is not flat. Her yard you did not have to worry about slipping and falling into a river, and pushing the leaves to the back of the yard is easier than pushing them down a small hill, across the yard, and up another one. Lacking a wheel barrow, it all had to be pushed, too.
Better tools for next year. Unfortunately, I will be leaving the house before the sun rises in the morning. I will not be able to find out until later in the day how well I did at raking. Hopefully I will be happy with the job that I did so that I do not have to skip my run again tomorrow night to rake some more.
